Local Color Series

Project series, LOCAL COLOR, approximately 50 panels all designed to be shown together in a variety of configurations.

Local ColorAn Exploration of My Surroundings

These panels form a collection of paintings exploring the fragmentary views that celebrate my own suburban landscape. They are all designed with a height of 18” and varying widths, so they can be combined in multiple configurations as diptychs, triptychs, borders, or wall installations.

As I worked on this series, I found themes emerging. The first group began as an exploration of autumn and the differentiation of tree shapes as they changed color. There are views from my house which were revisited seasonally. In each panel, the shifting light is a major protagonist. The most ordinary scenes are transformed by it's ephemeral nature, and something overlooked becomes an image that demands to be captured.

The panels are acrylic paintings on wood or stretched canvas supports.
